Maybelline One by One Volum' Express Mascara | Review & Swatches

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

For a while now everyone has been raving about Maybelline mascaras and I just never got around to trying one, even though I knew I should! And then I stumbled across a sale and this beauty was half the price so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try one for myself, and well, let me tell you, it was worth every penny! Even though it's not their newest release I hope that not everyone has tried this by now and some of you may enjoy reading!

Recent Purchases | September/October

Friday, October 31, 2014

Since I've been working this summer I shopped quite a lot. I've been running out of a lot of necessities and also there's still some makeup I've never had before and needed it in my collection. And that lead me to this post right here, where I will share what I've bought with all of you :)
I've already used and tried out some of this stuff so I'm able to give you tiny reviews but if there's anything that interest you, feel free to leave a comment and I will do a review on it :)

christmas countdown | wishlist!

Sunday, December 15, 2013

hello! today I'm posting another christmas countdown post and it's my christmas wishlist! I have only 4 products here, because they are all what I really need and want and I couldn't figure out what more I wanted so here you go! let me know what's on yours, btw! :)

maybelline the falsies black drama volum' express mascara {£7.99 | $6.99}

actually I never owned a maybelline mascara in my life. I know they are supposed to be the best but I always find cheaper, good working mascaras and never liked to spend my money on these (they are pretty expensive here). I've heard so many great things about this and saw this on sale in various places so I put this on my wishlist, hoping I could buy this for myself one day :)

juicy couture viva la juicy perfume {£56.70 | $90.00 / 100ml}

my friend bought this and I was tempted ever since I smelt it for the first time. everyone on youtube used to rave about this back in the day. it does smell heavenly and I want it more than anything.

essence sun club matt bronzing powder {£6.99 | $4,99}

karissa pukas (saturdaynightsalrite) raves about this and it's so cheap I can't pass it up without trying it. if people who tried high end bronzers love this, I might love it too!

l'oreal lumi magique light infusion foundation (in the us known as true match lumi) {£10.99 | $12,99}

this foundation screams my name! it's a light infusion foundation which means it's perfect for dry, dull skin. also it has gorgeous packaging and everyone says l'oreal makes best foundations so we shall see!

what's on your makeup/cosmetics wishlist?

beauty review | freeman refining facial cleanser pear

Sunday, September 1, 2013

hello, again! I decided to finally do another beauty review, since they are the most popular posts on my blog and it's a beauty blog so I figured I should finally do one! I promised to do a review on this a long time ago when I bought it back in april (mentioned here) but I always thought I wouldn't have much to say about it. after thinking for a while I realised that I actually did! I raved to my friend about this so I wanted to share to a bigger audience too :)

freeman refining facial cleanser is said to help with acne prone skin because it contains salicylic acid, also it has pear extract.to clear and soften the skin while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. for me, as a 17 year-old girl, the wrinkles was not the factor I chose this for. I was in a terrible need of a cleanser for my dry but acne-prone skin. salicylic acid has always helped me so when I saw it I knew I just had to try it.

the first thing I noticed about this product was the scent that it has - for me it's exactly the same as bath&body works hand sanitizer in fresh picked apples. I'm a sucker for a nice fruity smell that and I just could sit and smell it every single day, and I do! even though this cleanser contains salicylic acid it's very gentle on my dry skin - I don't feel it moisturized or anything but it also doesn't leave me patchy and gross that most products do. after using this my skin feels clean and soft which is exactly what I look for in a cleanser.

the texture of freeman's facial cleanser is a liquid-gel. it's not runny, lathers well when applied but I have problems with rinsing it off, it seems to stay for a little too long that I would want. also, a little of this goes a loooong way, I use a pea size amount each time, sometimes even less and it is always more than enough to clean my face and get rid of any dirt or makeup. this bottle has 150ml and I believe it will last me a while. as I said I've had this since April and I'm still not even half way done!

so if you ever spot this - be sure to pick it up! I love it and would recommend it to anyone, in my opinion it would suit a lot of skin types and needs :)

have you tried this cleanser? what's your favorite?

wishlist #2 | august -- vivo cosmetics

Monday, August 12, 2013

hello! the past few days I've been scrolling through various UK bargain cosmetic lines and came to conclusion I have to order something from either MUA or VIVO. shipping is pretty cheap and the products are amazing on both. after all the research I decided I would order off VIVO when I get my paycheck at the end of the month (let's cross our fingers that 50% off sale will last until that). I put up a little wishlist on the website and decided to share it here also, just for the sake of it. hopefully some of you have tried these and could give me your opinions?

1. perfect skin primer | on sale - £2.99 here

I'm in a need of a primer for school and I thought I would try this. nothing too special, I'm not quite sure if I will order this or not, because translated into my currency all of these things came to quite a lot of money.

2. color stain lip crayon in best of me | on sale - £1.99 here

gorgeous red lip crayon. in the swatched I've seen on the web this looks moisturizing and buildable color. pretty great for the price, huh?

3. colour block 12 shade eye pallete in unprotected | on sale - £1.99 here

this is compared to naked pallette and is even cheaper than the MUA version! also, from the reviews I've seen this is said to be more pigmented and well, only £1.99!!!

4. on the go artist blush, bronze & eye palette | on sale - £3.99 here

9 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, bronzer and powder - wow, just wow. that's basically all I need right now. definitely my first thing to buy!! can't wait.

5. blush and highlighter duo in sugar candy | on sale - £1.19 here

gorgeous pink blush and champagne highlighter. this would come in handy for sure! don't know if the pigmentation is good or not but I guess we will see? :)

have you tried any of these? is there anything else from vivo I haven't spotted but should?!

empties #1! | products I used up

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

hello! here we go - my first empties post. I hope this will be somewhat interesting for you to read - I personally love mini-reviews of products people used up :)

  • a mincer phrama moisturizing day & night cream
I had pretty high hopes for this little guy - mainly because of the ingredients it contained, featuring argan oil, pear extract, shea butter, olive oil etc. I wasn't that impressed with it but it was okay for the price. bare in mind that I have very very very dry skin that often flakes so I need a moisturizer that is quite thick and can lock in my moisture. this was nice and made my skin feel soft but in the long run it didn't make a ton of difference. for people with normal to dry skin this would be perfect in my opinion, because if it took care of my flakiness it will take care of yours!

would I repurchase: unfortunately, no.

  • garnier intensive moisture cream for dry skin (face &body)
I was given this by my mom not too long ago - I always saw her use it and I thought it was once again - perfect for me because it's for dry skin. well, it didn't do anything. as soon as it absorbs into my face I'm left with the same dry skin I had before applying. the formula is thick but I just didn't like it. the tube is huge and it last a very long time but you have to apply quite a lot of it and it doesn't do the job very well. not a product I regret using up to say the least.

would I repurchase: no.
  • maybelline dream satin liquid whipped foundation
I saw a lot of reviews on youtube featuring the american version of this foundation and I assumed it was the same. well, I think it wasn't. this was horrible - it barely stayed put on my face for 2 hours them it would settle into dry spots or something and by the end of my school day I would look like I wasn't wearing foundation at all. I don't know why it did that but it happened and if I put foundation on my face I want to look flawless - this would just make me look worse and draw my imperfections even more. again, I have dry skin. maybe people with normal/combo skin would like this more.

would I repurchase: never.
  • AA sensitive skin semi-rich cream for dry and normal skin
I got this as a gift from my friend for my birthday. she knew I suffer from dry skin but she accidentaly mixed dry with sensitive and well, got me this. it is said to have no artificial scent or coloring. first of all let's talk about the horrible scent it has - for some of you it might be not that bad if you're really into the no-artificial-anything. the scent is as natural as it can be - it smells horrible and the smell lingers on your skin and you can smell it. after a while you get used to it, though, but if you're really sensitive with scents I wouldn't recommend this for you. once again, did nothing for my dry skin and for the price it had it should've been a lot better.

would I repurchase: no.
  • got2b straight on protecting straightening spray
my first ever heat protectant right here - this 200ml bottle lasted me 2 years! it kept my hair nice and soft and actually made the difference in the condition of my hair as well as the lasting power of the straigt hair. I have naturally really curly/wavy hair and if it's a tiny bit humid out my straight hair turns into a frizz ball immediately. I noticed the difference only when I didn't use it - I started to notice that my hair seem to curl up way faster than when I put this on in my hair so if you're looking for a good straightening spray - this is it.

would I repurchase: yes.
  • bioderma abcderm irritations around the mouth protective cream
I had these dry flaky dark spots around my mouth and my mom decided to buy this to cure it. I don't know if this exact product got rid of those but it's gone now. I didn't really like the smell and the texture of this - it was thick and left a residue on your face but as it's a healing cream I suppose I shouldn't mind about it. my first experience with a brand bioderma right here.

would I repurchase: if I had the same condition again, yes.

I noticed that this empties post was a little too negative for my liking but oh well, hope you enjoyed it!

have you tried any of these products mentioned? what was the last product you used up?!

Beauty Review | Cheaper Alternative of a Beauty Blender.

Monday, May 27, 2013

I can't believe how time flies by - I realized I had this little hot pink beauty blender in my hands for over a week now. It's the one that changed the way I apply my make up and makes it look flawless.

bought from here

I'm sure you all heard the rave about the original beauty blender when it first came out - everyone was screaming and shouting at how great it was. I used to always listen but never believe - how a damp sponge can apply make up better than brushes? The whole concept seemed unbelievable to me - and so was the price, the original one is priced at $19.95. It seems like a lot of money for a sponge? As time went buy I thought why not search my old friend eBay for a cheaper alternative and boy did I found one. There were tons and tons of China sellers with the cheap beauty blender version - the original 'teardrop' shaped one and the one that I got which is shaped a little more different. And I paid $1.79 for it!

The sponge itself is pretty big and I like that because it can blend the foundation onto my face much quicker. I also use the pointed end to apply concealer under my eyes and on blemishes.

Now onto application - it works wonderfully. I haven't tried the original one and I'm sure it's better (I judge by the price difference) but I'm completely okay with having just this one. I used to apply my foundation with my fingers or using a brush but this is way better. I dot the foundation all over my face, as I always did, and then bounce the dampened sponge onto my face to distribute it evenly. This sponge is pretty hard and not as easy going as I had imagined but I don't mind it. It makes for the prettiest coverage - obviously depends on what you are using. I use a light/medium coverage foundation and it covers everything I need it to. Doesn't feel heavy and my skin is left glowy all because of this little sponge.

I don't know if it works the same on everyone - maybe it's just me - but I truly love it and I know I will buying this again.
If you're interested - I bought it from eBay here.

Have you tried the beauty blender? What are your thoughts?

Beauty Review | Freeman Facial Clay Mask with Avocado & Oatmeal

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Hello, charming ladies! So sorry for not posting for a week again. No more excuses - I'm constantly too late to take pictures or something or too lazy to edit them which leads to not posting for such a long time. I always think I'm boring and no one would read what I have to tell and that kind of puts me off. Don't know why.
Well, today I'm back with another beauty (or skincare?) review - Freeman's Facial Mask. I was in a drugstore not too long ago and bought 2 of these and one another one, all by Freeman (haven't tried another one yet but expect another review coming soon!). They were too cheap not to grab and go! Obviously, these are sample sized face masks but it's good to try and then grab a full size of this (which I think I will be doing!).

Now what I've read about this mask on freemanbeauty.com: Rich clays dive deep to purge dirt and oils from pores. Nutrient-rich Vitamin E, Avocado and Oatmeal moisturize for lasting skin softness. Skin looks and feels squeaky clean and is soft to the touch. Perfect for normal to combination skin.

I have to agree with this 100%! It's actually quite weird for me to say that since I never believe all those ads and cheesy descriptions.
The mask itself is a pretty mint green color (my favorite) and soft silky texture. Scent was also enjoyable for me. When applied, dries for a little too long, I was taking a bath while applying, so maybe the heat caused it. Since I have very dry skin I try to avoid things not made for specifically dry skin, this was one of the exceptions. It may have burned a little at first but the thing is that my face was a little sun burnt and this was the magical cure - woke up in the morning with a tanned face and no redness - amazing, right? It also made my face feel squeaky clean, as said in the description.
Overall, everything that needed to be done to my face was done correctly. It even cured my sunburns, never expected that from a simple face mask. This one is perfect for those days when your face needs just a little pick me up - not to expect something super special, great for using as often as you'd like.
As I mentioned I'll definitely be buying the full size when I run out of these, because I always need something to make my skin feel soft to the touch and clean. Dry skin can be such a hassle at times!

Have you tried anything by Freeman? What other face masks do you recommend? (I NEED to try Montagne Jaunesse ones!)

Funday Favorites #2 | Youtube, Skincare, Beauty.

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Hello! It's a sunny Sunday afternoon and I thought I would share my favorites finds and things for this week!

  • My favorite Beauty Youtuber this week has to be SaturdayNightsAlrite! I discovered her a few weeks ago and have been obsessing over her videos this week. I love her personality, the way she talks and her beauty and style choices are awesome. She isn't afraid to tell her opinion about things and you can see the real her in her videos. Check her out!
  • Another favorite of mine has been Skincare. As soon as I got my moisturizer and cleanser (featured here) I got a lot more interested in keeping my skin nice. It's a pretty good motivation for me because I love trying something new, not always have the money for it, though. I've been trying to drink a lot more green tea instead of coffee in the morning, too and I noticed that my skin is slowly getting in a better condition. These things together are amazing for skin.
  • This blog is one of my favorites of the week, too. I'm slowly getting into some kind of regime to post more frequently and been getting feedback for that. I love all 6 of my followers. It isn't much but it's something! I never thought even one would want to read my thoughts, especially when English is not my first language.
  • Weather is warming up also. Sun is coming out more and snow is slowly melting, even if it snows a lot one day, it can be semi-gone the next. I don't like the sudden changes, I want spring for sure. Spring fashion and make-up trends are all that I'm about and I'm still stuck with warm winter coats and snow boots...
That's it. Hope you liked my silly ramblings and thoughts. Just a chill post for your Sunday. Have a great week ahead!

Beauty Review | Essence "Get Big Lashes" Volume Curl Mascara

Monday, April 1, 2013

Hello, lovelies! So here I am, with my first beauty review. I've been waiting for this moment for so long - to share my thoughts and feelings on certain products is my favorite thing among my friends and I love reading reviews (of products that I can actually find where I live which is not that many in the blogosphere) so I thought I should combine these things! But not to blab anymore - here it is:

I've tried a lot of different mascaras in my lifetime and they helped me figure out what I look for in a mascara and the main thing is length. Even though my natural lashes are quite long I love length way more than volume. And here I am, reviewing volumizing mascara.
Well, first thing that I noticed when looking at all kinds of different mascaras at the Essence counter are the wands. My last mascara was also one of the Essence's ones and I loved it so I knew I wanted to try more from this particular brand.

The formula of this mascara is quite odd and I didn't think I will like it at first. It's very wet and can be a trouble to work with since it can easily get on your lids while applying. Nothing a couple of cotton swabs couldn't wipe away, though. Also, it takes a little bit of time to dry on your lashes but not more than 10 seconds. If you are a fan of wet mascaras - this one's for you. I believe that after a couple more weeks it will start to dry up and be much easier to work with.

As for the wand - it's amazing. In the picture above you can see how clumpy it looks but I haven't had any problem with clumps what so ever, it's probably because of it's liquid-ness and a lack of dosator in a tube it won't stick to the wand. The wand is slightly curved which gives a little more control when it comes to picking up lashes from the very bottom. It's also very big and can cover all of my lashes in one swipe but I like to add a little more length to the corners.
Because of all of this it gives an amazing effect. I've received a ton of compliments on my lashes being super long and separated and that's exactly what I was looking for in a mascara.

I hope this review was somewhat helpful, I'm not a pro in writing these so leave any questions or suggestions in a comments bellow so I could do better next time.

Funday Favorites!

Sunday, February 24, 2013

February 24th, 2013 | Sunday.

Well, hello there. Today I'm coming to you with a series of posts I used to do back in my old blog and that's Funday Favorites. Every Sunday (at least I'll try) I will post my favorites - music, television, make-up, beauty tips, apps, movies, basically anything and everything. Enjoy my first Funday Favorites post! ♥

TV SHOW: My new obsession is 2 Broke Girls. It's amazing and so freaking funny! Well, I'm watching it for quite some time now and I can say that's it's the funniest show I've ever seen (F.R.I.E.N.D.S. will always be my all-time fave, don't get me wrong). If you didn't know - it's about 2 girls, one is broke from her childhood and one was rich but lost all of her money and now is broke too. The show has a ton of funny quotes, A LOT of inappropriate jokes, which are my favorite and some serious moments too. You have to watch and figure out if you like it yourself, because it really depends.

MAKE-UP: My favorite for this week must be my mascara - Essence's Multi Action. I desperately need a new one, because this one is already a little dried up and have a few times of usage in it. It's pretty cheap and does great things to my lashes - adds a ton of lenght and separates perfectly. Not a lot of volume for me though, but I'm all about lenght so...

MUSIC: This will sound weird, okay. Don't jugde. So a couple weeks ago I listened to some of Avril Lavigne's oldest songs on youtube, remebering the good times of my childhood. Well then I decided to download 2 of her CD's from 2002-2004. I've been listening to it ever since. I never planned on it it just happened, okay? My favorites are - Nobody's Home, Don't Tell Me (It was the first song I ever learned the lyrics to when I was younger), My Happy Ending, Complicated. What is shocking for me is that I like all of the songs. There's not one I wouldn't listen to when it came on shuffle.

That's it for this week! I don't have anything other I would like to mention as a favorite, maybe next week? :) See you later ♥

XOX, EVE.
